     A benchmarking exercise was carried out at the 'Centre of Innovative Development of Science and New Technologies' in Dushanbe on 20-22 May 2015. CIDS&NT is a core institute for research in the renewable energy sector.

    Benchmarking of the 'Kazakh Research Institute of Power Engineering named after Academician S.C. Chokin' JSC (KazRIPE)

    A benchmarking exercise was carried out at the Kazakh Research Institute of Power Engineering in Almaty on 18-19 May 2015. KazRIPE is a core institute for research in the energy sector. It has been involved in solving the problems of the industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan and the modernisation of the economy. The management of the KazRIPE, scientific and administration staff participated in the Benchmarking activity.

    Policy Mix Peer Review of scientific system conducted in Kyrgyzstan

    Since the revolution of 2010 Kyrgyzstan has been initiating a wide range of policy reforms and currently plans to include the science and research system into this process. New strategies are being developed and new laws in the area of scientific and technological development are being prepared. Therefore the Government of Kyrgyzstan has asked for an analysis of the science, technology and innovation system of Kyrgyzstan, which has recently been conducted by the IncoNet CA project.

    Researchers from Central Asia present Health and Climate Change Ressearch at ASEAN-EU STI Days 2015

    The ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days 2015 took place in Paris, France from 17-19 March under the overarching theme 'Excellent science in ASEAN'. The 2nd edition of this forum-like event attracted nearly 300 stakeholders engaged in international science cooperation, scientific research or innovation. The Central Asian countries were in the focus of two well visited side-events on Health and Climate Change issues.

In order to achieve this goal both slots dedicated to EaP and CA researchers are open for EU and ASEAN researchers.

    Using the opportunity that on 23-25 February 2015 a high-level delegation from Kazakhstan headed by the Prime Minister participated in the Global Law Summit in London, the Kazakh Ministry for Investment and Development organised special workshop to discuss 'EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation in Ressearch, Innovation and Investment'. The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the fields of research, technological development and innovation.

    Kick-off Meeting for the STI Policy Mix Peer Reviews of Armenia, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan

    On 22-23 January 2015, the Centre for Regional and International STI Studies & Support (CeRISS, Greece) and the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI, Austria) organised a Kick-off Meeting for the S&T Policy Mix Peer Reviews of Armenia, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan in the framework of the IncoNet EaP and IncoNet CA projects. At the meeting, senior experts and policy-makers from the EU Member States and Associated Countries as well as high-level stakeholders from Armenia, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan specified the areas to be reviewed and set a time schedule for the on-site visits of the three expert panels in March/ April 2015.

    EU-Central Asia International Cooperation Barometer

    The InoNet CA project is conducting a survey about the framework conditions and cooperation opportunities of STI in general and more particularly between the EU and the Central Asian countries. With the related questionnaire, addressing the five countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), we would like to measure the development of potentials of bi-regional Science, Technology and Innovation cooperation over time. The survey will be repeated after 15 months to get comparative data for analysis.

For the implementation of this benchmarking exercise we are looking for experienced experts from the field of energy with profound research management and research strategy analysis capabilities, who will act as scientific evaluators under this benchmarking exercise.

    Grant Scheme to facilitate the Participation of Central Asian Countries in the ASEAN-EU STI Days 2015 in Paris

    This grant scheme will financially support the participation of local researchers from Central Asian countries in the ASEAN-EU STI Days 2015, on 17-19 March 2015, in Paris (http://www.stidays.net/). The thematic priorities of the call are the two Societal Challenges HEALTH (more precisely Infectious Diseases or Chronic Lung Diseases) and ENVIRONMENT (Water-Energy-Food Nexus or Water Management under Climate Uncertainty). There will be 1 grant per country per Societal Challenge available.

    Participation of Central Asian researchers in the SET-Plan Conference and visit to the ENEA Research Centre

    The IncoNet EaP and IncoNet CA projects promote international STI cooperation and research policy dialogue between the EU and its member states on the one hand, and the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia Countries on ther other. One of the projects' tasks is to collaborate with EU Innovation Platforms. In this context the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE) organised the participation of innovative EaP and CA energy researchers in the 2014 SET Plan Conference. The event was held in Rome on 10-11 December under the auspices of the Italian Presidency of the European Union.

    Workshop on the 'Enterprise Europe Network' held in Uzbekistan

    The Indo-Uzbek Center for Promotion of Science and Technology Cooperation held a workshop about the Enterprise Europe Network on 28 October at the Miran International Hotel in Tashkent. Representatives of the European Union, young scientists from research institutes and experts of SMEs from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, participated in the event. The aim of the Workshop was to reflect successful examples of cooperation of Central Asian (CA) countries with the Enterprise Europe Network and to propose ways to extend the network in CA countries.

It was the first in a series of policy dialogue activities between the EU and CA organised under the IncoNet CA project.

    Regional Training for Central Asian NCPs held in Istanbul

    A training activity for National Contact Points (NCPs) in Central Asian countries was organised by TÜBİTAK in Istanbul on 12-13 March 2014 under Task 4.3 'Promotion of Horizon2020' of the IncoNet CA Project. 14 NCPs from 5 Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenisatan and Kyrgyzistan) and 4 trainers attended the event. Representatives of experienced EU MS/AC NCPs gave presentations about the role of National Contact Points within 'Horizon2020', the EU's current framework programme for research and innovation. Active participation of the trainees were promoted by organising group activities.

    Two new projects, 'IncoNet EaP' (STI International Cooperation Network for Eastern Partnership Countries) and 'IncoNet CA'  (STI International Cooperation Network for Central Asian Countries) started with a joint kick-off event in Athens on 18-20 September 2013.
